Save trees

In times when deforestation has led to global warming, acid rain and the greenhouse effect; ‘saving trees’ has become an issue we have to address. Environment degradation has occurred almost everywhere thanks to man’s need to capture more and more land either for agriculture or for housing purposes.
Rainforests around the world are being cleared, since people are misled to understand that these rainforests that are often hot and humid, insect ridden and difficult to penetrate are of no use to humanity. However, the truth is that when we clear rainforests we stand not just to lose an entire ecosystem but we risk our own quality of life as well; we are gambling with the stability of the climate and we are undermining the precious services afforded by their biological diversity.
The trees cleanse the air, they serve as effective sound barriers, they produce oxygen, they absorb carbon dioxide, they prevent soil erosion, and they serve as wind breaks. Loss of trees also reduces the availability of renewable resources like timber, medicinal plants, nuts, fruits and game. It also means loss of livelihood to the world’s poor who rely on natural resources for their day- to-day survival.
The continuous loss of natural ecosystems could make us vulnerable to ecological surprises in the future. In such a scenario, we must find ways of preserving the trees we have. In order to prevent claiming of forest land for cultivation purposes in the rural sector, the government should concentrate on finding ways to increase the output of the already present farming land. The farmers should be provided with better fertilizers to increase yield.
Wooden furniture should be banned and it should be replaced with other synthetic alternatives or steel which is just as sturdy. Rural areas should be provided an alternative to firewood which is used for cooking. Introduction of solar cookers could alleviate the problem. Cancelling the subsidiaries given to industries involved with the trade of timber might be an effective way to stop timber manufacture.
In urban areas the need for green cover is more than anywhere else. With cities transforming overnight into concrete jungles to accommodate the growing urban population, it is important that whatever mangroves remain in these areas be preserved. The government must make it mandatory for builders to keep a certain amount of green space not just for landscaping but for the planting of trees. A mature tree produces as much oxygen as is required by ten people for one year.
To preserve the trees we have, it is important that we lessen the mindless use of products made from trees: paper and wood. Catalogues should be banned and so should items like facial tissues and kitchen swaps that are not necessities. Paper should be recycled.
In rural and urban India another use of wood needs to be addressed. Trees are felled to provide firewood for burning pyres. Yes, burning pyres accounts for a lot of wood. Since eighty percent ofIndians are Hindus approximately eighty percent of deaths occur in Hindu families, which accounts for around eight deaths per minute. That accounts for eight trees being chopped down every minute to bid farewell to the parting soul.
Despite these staggering statistics electric cremation which is both environment-friendly and cost effective has yet to find large acceptance. In these times when all over the world natural resources are hard to come by, and survival has become necessary; it seems paradoxical that the dead are being allowed to deplete the resources of the living.

The need of the hour is to educate not just ourselves but also our young. The children are the future and if respect for trees is inculcated in them at a young age, they will make sure that the earth might have a future still.

trees our best friend

Nature has provided us with a lot of green vegetation. We seldom realize the importance of trees in our day-to-day life. We cannot exist without trees.
There are-many kinds of trees. Different kinds of trees grow in different countries and climates. In cold countries, trees like oak, birch, beech, elm, chestnut, fir and fruit trees like apple, pear and plum are found. In a hot country like India, the mango, the neem, the cotton tree, the banyan and hundreds of other trees are found. Rosewood, ebony and mahagony are some of the trees grown in tropical rain forests of India. Teak is the most common type of tree found in the monsoon forests of India. Coniferous trees like pine and cedar, trees of the Alpine variety like silver-fir, birch and juniper are found in the Himalayan regions.
The uses of trees to men are many. The timber trees supply men with wood for various purposes. The wood of oak, teak and mahagony are hard and are used for making beautiful furniture. The wood pulp for making paper is got from soft wood trees. Trees provide us with different kinds of fruits.  The chief fruits of the cold countries are apples, pears and plums and cherries. The fruit trees abundant in the warm countries are orange, lemon, mango and peach. Some other trees are famous for their beautiful flowers having sweet smell.
The climate of a region largely depends upon the trees. By cooling the air, they attract rain. Rainfall is heavy in the forests of the valleys. So a country with plenty of trees and forests gets plenty of rain and a treeless country is often a desert. Thus trees help in the economic growth of a country and also serve to maintain the ecological balance. Trees also stop soil erosion. Cutting down trees will result in soil erosion, flood and drought. Thousands of birds and animals depend on the trees for food, shelter and shade. Trees add to the natural beauty of a place. A land without trees is bare and a country covered with trees is always beautiful.
Trees are of great importance to modern man. So trees have to be protected and preserved. They are our friends. So it is our sacred duty to protect these benefactors of man.

Smoking is injurious to health
I believe smoking is a health hazardto not only the people who smoke, but the people around them. Now you don` t have to have a cigarette in your hand to be smoking, if your parents smoke you get second hand smoke which is technically the same thing because you are still inhaling irritating smoke actually even more. When I walk downstairs in my own house I walk into a room where smoke attacks me and my lungs. Then I end up having that awful stench follow me everywhere. Smoking affects your body in many different ways. You can get yellow teeth and bad breath from smoking. These are things I am sure you don't want to have. Yellow fingernails from the smoke looks like buttery popcorn. It will look ugly and messy when you want to look nice. Tar builds up in your lungs and makes them all black like soot. When you don't get enough cigarettes, your body can tell. People can shake and shiver when they don't get the amount of nicotine they are used to. Smoking doesn't only make you look bad, but it affects your body internally.
For many people smoking is a trend, or a way of attracting attention so people will think better of them, at least that is how the smoker feels. But in many cases in this corrupt day and age the smoker is an addict and is the dependent of the vicious drug nicotine. Nicotine is the most addictive drug in the world, and is abused by ignorant human beings through the use of cigarettes. Personally nicotine is my worst enemy and if were flesh and bones I would destroy it, because of the fact that is has taken my beloved father which I love more than anything in this world and turned him into an addict. This paper has helped turn the anger I had for my father because of his smoking, into pity and sorrow.  What he feels and goes through every time he tries to quit and does not succeed why he can't quit, and lastly why de has become dependent of the life threatening drug nicotine.

Once, person give up smoking, it restore human body. It should take diet outputs the toxic substances, including nicotine, which affects the nervous system. Smoking reduces lung capacity, according to this should do breathing exercises to increase the absorption of oxygen the lungs.

nature

We live on the most beautiful planet, Earth which has very clean and attractive nature full of greenery. Nature is our best friend which provides us all the resources to live here. It gives us water to drink, pure air to breathe, food to eat, land to stay, animals, plants for our other uses, etcetera for our betterment. We should fully enjoy the nature without disturbing its ecological balance. We should care our nature, make it peaceful, keep it clean and prevent it from the destruction so that we can enjoy our nature forever. Nature is a most precious gift given by the God to us to enjoy but not to harm.
We should not destroy the originality of the nature and should not misbalance the ecosystem cycle. Our nature provides us beautiful environment to live and enjoy so it is our responsibility to keep it clean and away from all the damages. In the modern era, many selfish and bad activities of the human being have disturbed the nature to a great extent. But we all should try to maintain our nature’s beauty.
The nature has everything for us but we do not have anything for it even we are destroying its property day by day to just fulfil our selfish wishes. In the modern technological world lots of inventions are getting launched daily without its advantage and disadvantage to the nature. It is our responsibility to save the declining assets of our nature to make possible the existence of life forever on the earth. If we do not take any step towards nature conservation, we are keeping our future generations at danger. We should understood its worth and value and try to maintain its natural shape.

Nature is like our real mother which never harms us but always nourishes us. Walking in the lap of nature in the early morning makes us healthy and strong as well as keeps us away from many lethal diseases like diabetes, chronic heart diseases, high blood pressure, liver problem, digestive system ailments, infections, brain disease, etc. It is good for our health to hear the soft sound of the birds, rattle of the breeze, sound of running fresh air, sound of running water in the river, etcetera in the early morning. Most of the poets, writers and people used to of yoga and meditation are seen in the early morning in the garden to re-energies their body, mind and soul.

How does Earth Science affect our daily life?

How does Earth Science affect our daily life?
The earth science is branch of science dealing with the constitution of the earth and its atmosphere. The various branches of earth science is geology, oceanography, metrology and astronomy.  The Earth science generally recognize four “sphere” of study of the earth: the lithosphere, the hydrosphere, the atmosphere, and the biosphere, are corresponding to rocks, water, air, and life. Earth science affects our daily life so many ways. First of all, we live on the earth. Our very lives are shaped by it. We take summer breaks when it’s sunniest, we live through hot and cold, dry and wet, and every combination of weather.  We are a prey to it storm, droughts, earthquakes, hurricanes, volcanoes all the earth’s process. While there is very little we can to prevent what the earth does. There of how disasters work, or when they will happen –we might even not know about global warming. Therefore, it affects our life. Earth science affects all our lives. Our landscape has been shaped by natural processes such as tectonics, weathering, and biological activity over billions of years. We use natural materials every day, everything from building stone and oil to metals such as iron, copper and gold, and even diamonds, have all been extracted from the ground.

Ground Zero in Tuscaloosa: Horror and hope, tears and prayers

Ground Zero in Tuscaloosa: Horror and hope, tears and prayers
This event happened in April 29th, 2011 and it was around by 5 p.m. when residents first saw the monster tornado heading toward the heart of this proud southern university town. The destructive force of Mother Nature that day won't ever be forgotten by the 93,000 people who call Tuscaloosa home. That day has united them, through horror and hope, tears and prayers. Everyone was praying and others grabbed video phones. Some field for their lives.  Five year old girl sang out, “Jesus! Jesus! Jesus!” Bolden chimed in with “Thank you!  In one block radius around blume’s office, he said, at least 15 people were killed.
I am sorry for those who have to go through with tragic event. I have never seen devastation like this. Many people were killed and the tornado picked up a neighbor home. I think most of the people don’t have insurance. Whoever doesn’t have insurance how would pay for their home? Where will they live?  I hope our president do anything about this so people can have some space to stay.
